ArtoArte Zine was a publication I created in the 90s with the aim to fill in the void in terms of spaces to openly discuss different issues pertaining the precarious Limeño art world. In a country with little to no art criticism or spaces to dialogue, the zine sought to give a voice to independent artists, art historians and critics as well as to contextualize the moment we were living in. Perú was under the dictatorship of Alberto Fujimori from 1990 to 2000, it is in this context of chaos, poverty, uncertainty and violence that the zine came to be.
